From Noi Bai Airport Straight to Ninh Binh
Landing in Hanoi does not mean sleeping in Hanoi, if Ninh Binh is the part you came for.
If Ninh Binh is the point of your trip, a direct transfer from Noi Bai saves the day you would lose in Hanoi. It works best for a morning landing and a calm base. Land late, or travel with small children, and a night near the airport comes first.

How far is Noi Bai from Hanoi, and why does it matter?
Noi Bai (airport code HAN)1 is about 35 km from downtown Hanoi2. If you go through the city, you add that leg before the train or car to Ninh Binh. A direct car removes the city leg completely.
We give no fixed drive time, because traffic and your pickup point change it. Ask the provider for an estimate, and leave a buffer.
When should you stay in Hanoi first?

Can I go from Noi Bai to Ninh Binh without stopping in Hanoi?
Yes. A road transfer can take you from arrivals to Ninh Binh directly, so the capital stays off your route. This suits short leave and families who want a calm base. Book it in advance and give the provider your flight number.
Is the train a good option from the airport?
It is more work. You first reach Hanoi, then go to the station, then take the train, with bags at each step. It can suit a light traveller who also wants a Hanoi night. For a first arrival with children, a direct car is simpler.
How long should I stay in Ninh Binh?

Do not drive to a small town in the dark if you can avoid it. Choose a night near the airport or in Hanoi, then transfer in the morning. If you must go straight, confirm the hotel has night reception and the driver knows the address.
