Package Inclusion Comparator
Compare two quotes on equal terms before you pay either one.
The package comparator puts two quotes on equal terms. A lower headline price can leave out flights, meals or tickets that the other quote covers, so the tool adds your own cost for whatever is missing and shows the true total for your group.
What does this tool help you decide?
It helps you decide which quote is really cheaper, not which one looks cheaper. Couples on a budget and friends splitting costs meet quotes that cover different things, and this tool lines them up.
It does not judge quality, hotels or itineraries. Those need reading, and the package enquiry guide shows what to ask.
How do I use it, step by step?
- Enter the number of travellers.
- For Package A, enter the price per person from the quote.
- Tick every item that quote includes. The list has nine items: return flights, checked baggage, airport transfers, all hotel nights, breakfasts, lunches and dinners, entrance tickets, a guide, and travel insurance.
- For any item left unticked, a box appears. Enter what that item would cost your whole group if you bought it yourself.
- Repeat for Package B.
- Press the button to compare.
What do I enter for items a quote leaves out?
Use a real figure for your group, not a guess at the other agency’s price. For flights, ask an airline or check the flights from Malaysia table for which carriers serve your route. For other lines, the trip cost guide explains what each should cover.
If you cannot price an item, leave it ticked on one side only after you have asked the agency in writing whether it is included. A verbal yes is easy to forget.
How do I read the result?
You see the true total for each package: the price per person times your travellers, plus your cost for every unticked item. Then the tool tells you which costs less on equal terms, and by how much, or that both come to the same total.
A small gap is a reason to compare the things the tool cannot count, such as hotel location, pace and how many hours are spent shopping. A large gap usually means a missing inclusion you have not priced yet.
What are the limits?
The tool compares money only. It does not know whether a guide is licensed, whether a hotel is good for children, or whether meals suit halal needs. Muslim travellers should read the meal and prayer checks before comparing lunches and dinners.
Check any agency’s licence on the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) travel agency page, which MOTAC’s homepage links to1. Confirm every price and inclusion in writing before you pay. The costs hub has more on package value.
Common questions
Why not just compare the headline prices?
Because the headline price covers different things in different quotes. One may include flights and tickets while the other leaves them for you to buy. The comparator adds your cost for each missing item, so the two totals describe the same trip.
What if both packages include everything on the list?
Then the comparison is simply price per person times travellers. The tool will show which is lower. Look next at the things it cannot count, such as hotel area, pace of the days, shopping stops and cancellation terms, using the package enquiry guide.
Does it work for packages with more than the nine items?
The nine items cover the usual big lines. If a quote includes extras such as a show or a cooking class, note their value yourself and weigh them beside the result. The tool compares cost on equal terms, it does not value optional extras.
Can I trust the cheaper result?
Trust it as far as your figures are accurate. The tool is only as good as the prices you enter for missing items. Confirm each inclusion in writing with the agency, and confirm that the agency is licensed through MOTAC before you pay a deposit.
