Airport transfer

Phu Quoc Airport to Your Resort by Beach Area

The island is small, but where your resort sits still changes the ride.

Phu Quoc is compact, but your resort’s beach area still decides how long the airport ride takes. Long Beach is the closest belt, while the far south and north need a longer drive. A pre-arranged car suits families, and a taxi or app ride suits light-packing couples.

Which transfer suits which traveller?

Choose by who is travelling, then check your beach area.

  • Young children with a stroller: pre-arranged car, child seat confirmed.
  • Grandparents and multi-generation groups: resort pickup or a larger car, so nobody queues in the heat.
  • Slow couples with a relaxed arrival: taxi or app ride to the resort.
  • Anyone arriving after a late flight: a booked pickup, which the resort can track.

The island covers 575 km24, which is small but still big enough for rides to differ by belt.

How does the ride change by beach area?

Think of the resort belts as three zones around the airport.

What do you need to know about the airport?

Phu Quoc International Airport has the code PQC1 and began operating on 2 December 20122. It is a modern airport, so arrivals are straightforward.

From Malaysia, AirAsia and Sun PhuQuoc Airways are listed flying to Kuala Lumpur International, and Berjaya Air to Kuala Lumpur-Subang3. Confirm schedules on the airline sites.

How does the weather affect your arrival?

Phu Quoc’s rainy season runs roughly April to November and its dry season roughly December to March5. In the wet months, afternoon downpours slow the road and can delay boat trips. Add extra buffer if you have a tight check-in or a tour on arrival day.

What should you check before you book?

  • Your resort’s exact distance from the airport and whether it sends a car.
  • Child seat and stroller space, confirmed in writing.
  • Your flight number given to the driver, so they can track delays.
  • A cash backup in Vietnamese dong in case a card or app fails.

Compare methods in airport pickup, Grab or taxi and private car with driver or public bus.

Common questions

Is Phu Quoc small enough that every transfer is short?

The island is compact, but compact does not mean identical. Resorts on the Long Beach strip are the closest to the airport, while the far south and the north need a longer drive. Ask your resort exactly how far it sits and whether it offers its own pickup before you pick a ride.

Should I book the resort pickup or use a taxi?

A resort pickup is the easiest for families because the driver knows the gate and your name is on a sign. Taxis and ride apps are fine for light-packing couples. Compare the resort's quote with a taxi estimate, and keep a backup plan in case a flight is delayed.

What is the best transfer with a stroller and toddlers?

A pre-arranged car, with the child seat or stroller space confirmed in writing. Phu Quoc roads are quiet by city standards, but heat and a hungry toddler make waiting at a taxi line harder. Confirm luggage space too, since strollers take room in a small sedan.

Does the rainy season change the ride?

It can slow it. Heavy afternoon rain makes roads slick and reduces visibility, and some island roads flood in the wet months. Allow extra time in the rainy season, and keep your phone dry. Dry months are kinder to anyone with a tight check-in or a boat tour booked.

Can I walk or use a bus from the airport to my resort?

Walking is not practical with luggage, and island buses are better for travellers who already know the area. For a first visit, a car is simpler. If you want to try a bus later in the stay, check the stop locations near your resort before you rely on it.
