Vietnam Trip Cost Worksheet in Ringgit

You have quotes in dong and ringgit: turn them into one honest total for the whole trip.

Fill one line per cost, take each figure from a quote with its date, convert dong to ringgit with a single stated rate, and add a buffer on its own line. That gives you a total you can compare against any other plan. Treat every number you cannot quote yet as an estimate and mark it.

What lines should the worksheet have?

Keep the lines separate. A single “hotel and food” line hides the part that moves.

How do you total in ringgit?

Vietnam’s currency is the dong, ISO code VND1. Choose one exchange rate and use it across the whole sheet.

Bank Negara Malaysia’s exchange rate page showed MYR 0.0158 per 100 VND on 15 October 20262. That is a dated reading, so check the page again on the day you finalise the worksheet.

Convert each dong line with that rate. Keep the dong figure in a column beside the ringgit figure, so you can redo the sum if the rate changes.

What should you take from a quote?

  • The price basis: per person or per room, and for how many people.
  • The dates and the number of nights.
  • What is included: meals, transfers, tickets, guide and baggage.
  • What is not included, written as a plain list.
  • The payment and cancellation terms.

How do you use the buffer?

Put the buffer on its own line. It covers price changes, card or exchange margins and the small extras that appear on every trip. Look at it again once your quotes are final and shrink it only if your lines are firm.

What is the next step?

Send us your quotes and your travel dates, and we can help you place each figure on the right line and total the trip in ringgit.

Common questions

Which lines belong on a Vietnam trip cost worksheet?

Return flights, domestic flights, hotels, airport and city transfers, tours and entrance tickets, meals, local transport, SIM or data, insurance, shopping and a buffer. List each line separately, so you can see which one moves when you change the plan.

Where do I get the numbers from?

From quotes and booking pages, not memory. Write the source and the date beside each figure. For lines you cannot quote yet, such as meals, set an estimate and mark it as such, then replace it when you know more.

How do I convert dong to ringgit?

Use one dated rate and apply it to every dong figure. Bank Negara Malaysia's rate page showed MYR 0.0158 per 100 VND on 15 October 2026. Rates move and your card or exchange counter adds its own margin, so keep a buffer.

How big should the buffer be?

Set it as a share of the total that you are comfortable with, and write it on its own line. Leave room for price changes, card margins and the small purchases that always appear. Review it when your quotes are final.

Can I use the worksheet to compare two packages?

Yes. Fill the same lines for each package and note what each quote includes. A package with a lower total may leave out meals, transfers or entrance tickets that the other includes, so compare the lines, not the headline.
