Da Nang With Friends, Together and Apart

Your group wants the same highlights, a few hours apart, and no arguments over the bill.

A friends trip works when the group shares the big days and splits up for the small ones. This plan gives you four days in Da Nang built that way. It also shows how to share rides and tickets so nobody does sums at the ticket gate.

Who is this plan for?

It suits three to six friends who are happy on a middle budget. Some of you want the sights, some want the beach and a late sleep, and one of you always wants another coffee.

If the group includes toddlers or elders, read the easy-pace plan with grandparents instead.

The plan at a glance

  • Day 1: arrive, beach swim, seafood dinner by the sea.
  • Day 2: shared Son Tra and Marble Mountains morning, free afternoon.
  • Day 3: shared Ba Na Hills day, then the river at night.
  • Day 4: free morning, shared lunch, flights.

Day by day

Day 1: arrive and swim

Da Nang is served from Kuala Lumpur by AirAsia, Batik Air Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines and VietJet Air, per the airport’s listed routes1. Keep the first evening free so the whole group can swim after landing.

Check in, swim and share a seafood dinner. Open the kitty tonight, so the first ride is already counted.

Day 2: Son Tra, Marble Mountains, then free time

Hire one larger car for the morning, instead of two small ones, and ask the driver to wait. Son Tra peninsula gives coastal viewpoints and a quiet forest road. Then continue to the Marble Mountains, where a gateway leads to Huyen Khong Cave2.

After lunch, split. Some of you can rest at the hotel, others can hire bicycles or shop at the market. Meet again at a fixed time for dinner.

Day 3: Ba Na Hills, then a night out

Ba Na Hills sits at 1,500 m, 42 km from Da Nang3. Its official page shows the park closing at 22:00 and warns that hours may change4. Leave after breakfast, arrive before the crowds and give yourselves most of the day.

Back in the city, walk along the river for the Dragon Bridge and the lights. If your group wants a drink, choose a place that also serves food, so anyone who does not drink or who needs a halal-friendly meal is not left out. Book the ride home by app before you start.

Day 4: a lazy last morning

Leave the morning open. Some of you may want one more swim, others a last coffee. Share lunch near the hotel, then take the airport ride as one car if your flights allow.

How should the group share rides and tickets?

Use a kitty for what the whole group does together: shared cars, entry tickets and group meals. Keep drinks, shopping and extra snacks personal.

  • Rides: split by car, not by head. Grab operates in Vietnam5, and one larger car shared by the group works out simpler than two small ones.
  • Tickets: one person pays online or at the gate, and everyone settles at the end.
  • Record: use a shared note or a spreadsheet, and settle once by bank transfer.

Agree the rule on Day 1. It is much easier before the first bill.

How do you keep free time safe and fair?

Give each person two free blocks a day. Share live location with one person, charge phones before you split and agree a clear return time. A friend who wants to stay in should not feel pushed to join a trip, and a friend who wants to explore should not go alone at night.

Where should you stay?

Pick a zone, then compare rates.

  • Beach side: sea views, easy swims, a short ride to restaurants.
  • River side: walkable restaurants and the night lights, a little further from the sand.

A shared apartment suits three or four friends, but check the bed arrangement before booking.

How can you adjust it?

For a shorter trip, drop Ba Na Hills. For a longer one, add a day in Hoi An or a long drive over the pass, described in Da Nang to Hue via Hai Van Pass. In the wet season, which Da Nang lists as September to December6, keep one day flexible and read the rainy-day plan.

What should you book first?

  • Flights for the whole group on the same plane, if you can.
  • One shared apartment or adjoining rooms.
  • The car for Day 2 and Day 3, with the driver’s confirmation in a message.

What will it cost?

List the shared costs, the personal costs and the cost per person. Prices change by season, so enter today’s quotes in the trip budget builder rather than copying a figure. For more ideas, see all itineraries and the Da Nang guide.

If you share your group size and dates, we can suggest how to split the days, which rides to book as one car and where to leave free time.

Common questions

How many days does a friends group need in Da Nang?

Four days works well. One day to arrive and swim, one for Son Tra and the Marble Mountains, one for Ba Na Hills, and a free last morning. Three days is possible, but you will drop either Ba Na or the slow beach time, so decide which matters more.

How do we split costs fairly without awkward maths?

Start a shared kitty on day one for rides, entry tickets and group meals, and keep personal spending separate. One person records the kitty in a notes app. Settle up once at the end by bank transfer. Rides split by car, not by head.

What if the group wants different things in free time?

Agree two free blocks a day and a single meeting point at the end. One person can sleep on the sand while others ride to a cafe or shop. Share live location, charge phones and agree what time everyone is back.

Is Da Nang good for a night out with friends?

It is a relaxed night rather than a loud one. Expect riverside walks, seafood by the beach and a few lively bars. Pick an evening for the Dragon Bridge area, keep your rides booked by app, and plan a place with food for anyone who does not drink.

Which season suits a friends trip best?

The dry months are the safer choice for beach days and the Son Tra road. Da Nang lists its wet and typhoon season as September to December, so build a backup day around indoor stops. Our rainy-day plan has ideas.
